National : DIN 53483; DIN VDE 0472 part 502Beschreibung
Special cables for Submersible pumps. (winding wires)
mainly used in the motor's stators of "wet type motors".
Construction
Conductor : annealed copper
Insulation : Lead free PVC
(special yellow PVC without LEAD developed by Nexans)
Voltage : 600V (phase/earth)
Main characteristics :
- High dielectric strength
- High insulation resistance
- Low dielectric losses (tan δ)
- Good thermal and chemical resistance
- Lead Free (in compliance with REACH and RoHS)
History
NEXANS has been in the market of selling water-tight winding wires for submersible pump motors since 1950. Thanks to our longstanding experience, NEXANS has developed its own PVC Lead Free compliant with the REACH regulation.
Nexans uses the proper materials and guarantees the highest standards.

Electrical test UWM PVC Lead Free
Tests
The following test is done for each production lot :
1. Mechanical tests:
Dimension of the bare copper conductor
Dimension of the insulated wire
Eccentricity
Surface2. Electrical test :
48h in water
After Water : 15min 4000V DC
* Test voltage 2'000 V DC for wire with wall thickness under 0.4mm

Insulation resistance
Insulation resistance measurement at ambient temperature (IEC:2004 60502-1)
Procedure
This test shall be made on the sample length before any other electrical test. All outer coverings shall be removed and the cores shall be immersed in water at ambient temperature for at least 1h before the test. The D.C. test voltage shall be between 80V and 500V and shall be applied for sufficient time to reach a reasonably steady measurement, but in any case for not less than 1 min and not more than 5 min. The measurement shall be made between each conductor and the water.
If requested, measurement may be confirmed at a temperature of (20 ± 1) °C.
Calculation
The volume resistivity shall be calculated from the measurement insulation resistance by the following formula :
The "insulation resistance constant K" expressed in megohms.kilometres may also be calculated, using the formula:
NOTE : For the cores of shaped conductors, the ratio D/d is the ratio of the perimeter over the insulation to the perimeter over the conductor.
