CablOmix has been developed to anticipate FTTH networks' deployement. Nexans modified the construction of its medium voltage XKDT-YT power cable by introducing three empty plastic tubes to allow a later blowing in of one or more micro Optical Fibre cables.

Halogenfree three core medium voltage cables CablOmix

User instructions CABLOMIX

To avoid complications during the fiber optic cable blowing in the speed pipes, we recommend the following:

  • The cable bending radius should not be smaller than indicated in the cable specification sheet.
  • The use of intermediate chambers, if the cable layout contains bending radius lower than 10 m, so that the longer length does not exceed 600 m
  • In case of a straight line layout the blowing distance should not exceed 1000 m.
  • When the speed pipes are not used protect it against dirt with a plug
  • The basic rule for cable blowing is : the dimension of the cable should not exceed 2/3 of the speed pipe inside diameter.

The information above is given only as examples and can differ according to the method of installation and cable layout constraints (difference in altitude, etc…)

Nexans can also advise you on the choice of fiber optic cable to use for optimal results.
