Management Committee

A Management Committee has been created in May 2009 and is presided by Frédéric Vincent. Its mission consists in managing the Group, defining and directing its strategy.

Frédéric Vincent

Chairman and CEO
Frédéric Vincent is Chairman and CEO of Nexans since May 2009.
In 2006 Frédéric Vincent was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Nexans. From 1978 to 1985 he was a member of a major audit firm. After joining Alcatel in 1986, Frédéric Vincent integrated the Cables and Components sector in 1989, where he was appointed in 1994 Deputy Managing Director (Administration and Finance) of Alcatel's undersea telecommunications activities, and in 1997 of Saft, Alcatel's batteries activity. He became Nexans' Chief Financial Officer in 2000.
Frédéric Vincent is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales and of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris. He has a Bachelor in Business Law.

Frédéric Michelland

Frédéric Michelland
Senior Corporate Executive Vice President Americas, Chief Financial Officer
He started his professional career with JP Morgan and SG Warburg where he worked in trading rooms, in France and abroad. In 1996, he joined the Financial Department of the Suez Group as Corporate Finance Officer. He worked first on Mergers and Acquisitions in the frame of Suez development in the energy sector. He was then responsible of the Group’s quotation project in the United States. In 2000, he was appointed Financial Communication Director. In 2003, he moved to the head of the Financial Control Department of the Group.
Frédéric Michelland is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris and of INSEAD, with a Master's degree in Finance and an MBA.
Pascal Portevin Pascal Portevin
Senior Corporate Executive Vice President, in charge of the Europe Area, as an integrated operational unit organized into four market lines: Distributors and Installers, Utilities and Operators, Industry Infrastructure and Industrial Projects
Until 2011, Pascal Portevin was Senior Corporate Executive Vice President in charge of the Middle East, Russia and Africa, Asia-Pacific, North America and South America Areas, as well as commercial & innovation policies for the Group. From 2003 to 2009, he was Executive Vice-President in charge of Strategic Operations and between 1999 and 2003, President of the Telecom Division at Nexans. From 1996 to 1999, he was appointed Managing Director of the General Market product line with the cables and Components sector of Alcatel after having headed its Telecommunications Cable operations. From 1993 to 1996 he was Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel Fibres Optiques, then Director of Operations of the Optical Fibres product line. From 1990 to 1993 he was Technical Director of Alcatel North America when the Claremont (North Carolina) optical fibres factory was being built. From 1988 to 1990, he was the CEO of CGTI, a subsidiary of Alcatel specialized in the microwave communication. He began his career with Câbles de Lyon in 1985.
Pascal Portevin is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications.

Yvon Raak

Yvon Raak 
Senior Corporate Executive Vice President, in charge of supervising the High Voltage and Underwater Cable Business Group, the Asia-Pacific and MERA (Middle East-Russia-Africa) Areas and Corporate functions Industrial & Logistics, Purchasing, Technical, Information Systems
From 2003 until March 2011, Yvon Raak was responsible for Nexans’ Europe Area (including High Voltage) as well as the Industrial & Logistics strategy.  Before 2003, Yvon Raak was President of the Energy Division within Nexans. He joined the Cables and Components sector of Alcatel in 1999 as President of the Telecom Products Division within the Executive Committee. From 1997 to 1999 he was Senior Vice President, Strategy & Management, of Alstom Énergie and Chairman and CEO of Alstom Énergie SA. He joined Alstom in 1992 as Director before being appointed Chairman and CEO of European Gas Turbine SA. He began his career with Alcatel as Plant Manager at the Jeumont plant of Câbleries de Lens.
Yvon Raak is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and of the Ecole des Mines de Paris.

Nicholas Ballas

Nicholas Ballas
Executive Vice President Asia-Pacific area
Nicholas Ballas joined Nexans in 2009. Prior to joining the company, Nick was Vice President and General Manager of the Asia Pacific region for Cabot Corporation, a global specialty chemicals company based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Nick joined Cabot in 1987 and held various positions in finance, strategy and general management in the USA, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Nicholas Ballas has an MBA degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Norbert Bluthe
 

Norbert Bluthé
Executive Vice President, Europe Industry Market Line
Norbert Bluthé started his professional career with Rhodia where he was involved in research, marketing and management of business units in France and in the U.S. In 2005, he joined Nexans France as Building and Infastructure Activities Manager. He was then appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2008. He moved to Executive Vice President, Western Europe, Country Manager France in 2009.
Norbert Bluthé graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the CEDEP (INSEAD). He has a Ph.D. of organic chemistry.

Giuseppe Borrelli

Giuseppe Borrelli
Executive Vice President, Europe Utilities & Operators Market Line
Giuseppe started his professional career with Alcatel where he held several managerial positions. In 1995 he moved to the USA with Pirelli Cables North America as Vice President Operations of their Telecom Systems Group. In 1997 he joined Alcatel Cables and Components as Vice Presidents Electromechanical Components and in 2002 he became President of the Power Systems Division. Between 2004 and 2007 he held the position of Vice President Customer Satisfaction and Quality at Alcatel and then Vice President Global Supply Chain and Procurement Quality at Alcatel-Lucent. In 2007 he joined Nexans as Country Manager Italy.
Giuseppe Borrelli is graduated with honors at the University “Federico II” of Naples (Italy) as mechanical engineer.

Antoine Caillault

Antoine Caillault
Senior Corporate Vice President, Manufacturing & Logistics
Antoine Caillault has been the Nexans Corporate Industrial and Supply chain Vice President since 2008. Prior to joining Nexans, Antoine Caillault held various positions at Faurecia (leading automotive equipment manufacturer) in Business Unit General Management, Corporate Quality, Sales & Marketing and Industrial Management. In his earlier career steps, he worked for Pirelli Cables (today Prysmian) in industrial operations, running one energy plant in France and one in the USA.
Antoine Caillault has an engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées (major in shipbuilding) and a PMD from Harvard Business School.

William English

Willam English
Executive Vice President Middle East Russia Africa Area (MERA)
William English started his career in 1973 in the aluminum industry, and joined the financial department of Alcatel in 1978. He worked first as Financial Controller in the Public Switching Division, and then in the Business Systems Division. He was appointed Finance Director for Alcatel in the UK in 1985, and subsequently was responsible for the Telecom activities of the Business Systems Division in the UK. He became head of Financial Control of Alcatel in 1994, and joined Alcatel Câble en 1998. After having been in charge of the Industrial Applications Product Line,  he was appointed Country Manager for Benelux in 2001.
William English graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris.

 Benjamin Fitoussi

Benjamin Fitoussi
Senior Corporate Strategy and Business Development Vice President
Benjamin Fitoussi started his career at Gemini Consulting as a consultant specialising in the automotive and aeronautic sectors in 1996. In 2000, Fitoussi moved to Roland Berger Strategy Consultants where he was responsible for managing and driving simultaneous multi-national projects in the aerospace and defence, and transportation sectors. Fitoussi then moved to Alstom Power in 2006. While at Alstom, he held different positions, based in France and Switzerland: VP Marketing & Strategy, Supply Chain Director and VP Boiler Product Line.
Benjamin Fitoussi has an engineering degree from ‘Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aéronautique’, and a Masters in management from the French business school of Hautes Etudes Economiques (HEC) of Paris.

Stephen Hall

Stephen Hall
Executive Vice President, Americas Area
Stephen Hall started his career with Shell Canada and joined Canada Wire & Cable* in 1986 to focus on developing process control systems for the cable industry. He has held a wide variety of management roles within the company covering Engineering, IT, Production and General Management. Earlier in 2009, he was appointed as Chief Operating Officer responsible for production and sales for North America, and became lately in the year, Executive Vice-President for the Group’s North America Area. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University and an MBA from York University. Stephen is a Canadian and currently based in Ontario, Canada.

Jean-Philippe Machon

Jean-Philippe Machon
Executive Vice President, Europe Distributors & Installers Market Line 
Jean-Philippe Machon started his career in 1978 with Nortel Canada as Product Line Manager. Then he held different positions in financial control before becoming Financial Controller of the Nortel Telecom Cable division. He joined the Thomson Group in 1985 as Chief Financial officer of Thomson Cuivre S.A which became Alcatel Copper.  He was appointed in 1989 Managing Director of Euromold NV and became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel Interface SA.  Subsequently he was responsible for the Accessories Business Group. In 2000 he was appointed Country Product Line Manager of Industrial Applications for Nexans France.  He moved to the head of the Group Marketing Department in 2004 and became in 2007 Sales & Marketing Vice President for Europe.
Holding the French and Canadian citizenship, Jean-Philippe Machon graduated as mechanical engineer from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon. He has a MBA degree in finance from the Lyon Management Business School and a MBA in international Marketing from HEC Montréal.

Paul Nelson

Paul Nelson
Executive Vice President, Europe Infrastructure & Industrial Projects Market Line
Paul Nelson started his career within the cable industry in 1980, with BICC. He joined Alcatel in 1998 and was appointed as VP Business Improvement within the Cable Network Product Line (Telecom) and was also country manager for the UK & Ireland. Following the creation of Nexans, as a result of the IPO, he took responsibility for managing the Cabling Solutions Product Line in 2001. Since the inception of the regional structure within Nexans, which was introduced in 2003, he has held the position of Country Manager UK & Ireland.
Paul Nelson graduated from Humberside University with BA Hons Business Studies.

Jean Claude Nicolas
 

Jean-Claude Nicolas
Senior Corporate Vice President Communications
Jean-Claude Nicolas started his career in 1978 with the PSA Peugeot Citroën group where he held different positions within the Coporate Communications department before he was appointed Communications Associate Director. He joined the SNECMA group in 1990 as Communications Director. Then, from 1996 to 1997, he was in charge of communications for the French Automotive Industry Committee. In early 1997, he became Communcations Director of Pechiney. He joined Airbus in 2003 as Communications Director until the end of 2005.
He joined Nexans in March 2006 to become the Group's Communications Director.
Jean-Claude Nicolas has a Master in law and is a graduate of the Institut des Sciences Politiques of Paris.

Patrick Noonan

Patrick Noonan
General Counsel, Senior Corporate Vice President, Secretary General
Patrick Noonan is in charge of the headquarters legal, risk and insurance departments. He has been General Counsel of the Nexans Group since 2001 and Secretary of the Board of Directors. He began his professional carrier in the United States at major law firms in Washington D.C. and Palo Alto before joining Texas Instruments in France in 1985 as European Counsel. In 1988, he joined Alcatel NV (Brussels and Paris) before going to Canada in 1992 to become General Counsel of the Americas Sector of Alcatel Cable. In 1996, he became General Counsel of the Cables & Components Sector of Alcatel and in 1998 was appointed Deputy General Counsel of Alcatel.
Patrick Noonan is a graduate of Stanford University in the United States (B.S. Engineering, Juris Doctor).

Dirk Steinbrink

Dirk Steinbrink
Executive Vice President High Voltage & Underwater Cable
Until June 1st, 2011 Dirk Steinbrink was responsible for the Land High Voltage Business Group. In 2007 and 2008 he was Managing Director of a privately owned company in Germany, Harting Electric. Dirk Steinbrink was appointed Managing Director of Nexans’ Hanover unit in 2004, and held different responsibilities between 1999 and 2006 in the Hanover management and Product Line organization. He joined Alcatel Cable in 1998 as Head of Project Management & Export Sales in Hanover.
Dirk Steinbrink is graduated as a doctor of Electrical Engineering in High-Voltages from the Bergische University of Wuppertal (Dr.-Ing).

Jacques Villemur

Jacques Villemur
Senior Corporate Vice President Human Resources
He started his career in 1975 at the Export Department of Stein Industrie, where he held, successively, the position of Management Control Director, General Secretary (in charge, particularly, of human resources) and Chief Financial Officer. He joined Alcatel Cable in 1994 as Management Control Director of the German subsidiary. Two years later, he was appointed Vice President Planning & Finance Analysis for the Telecom Division of the Cable group. From 2001 to 2006, he was Vice President Financial Control & Consolidation within the Nexans Group. End of 2006, he joined the Corporate Human Resources Department as Corporate Vice President in charge of Career Management.
Jacques Villemur is a graduate of the French Business School HEC in Paris.
